Lac Hong University’s blood donors to be honored
The Dong Nai province’s Steering Committee of the Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign on April 6 held a ceremony to review its blood donation campaign in 2011 at the provincial Conference and Event Center. Attending the ceremony was Vice Director of Cho Ray Regional Blood Transfusion and Haematology Centre Le Hong Anh and Vice Chairman of provincial People’s Committee, Head of provincial Steering Committee on Voluntary Blood Donation Nguyen Thanh Tri.

According to the report, a total of 23, 000 units of blood were collected in 2011, reaching 129%. There were many typical units that enthusiastically took part in the blood donation campaign such as Long Khanh town’s Red Cross Chapter, Dinh Quan district’s Red Cross Chapter, Bien Hoa city’s Red Cross Chapter, Viet Nam join-stock Company, Lac Hong University, Dong Nai University,… However, blood donation campaigns in enterprises are still limited and the movement has not been developed widely.
In 2011, the provincial Red Cross Chapter has worked with its member organizations to carry out 5 seminars and 15 meetings to propagandize blood donation campaigns, and hold 15 campaigns at schools in the province, attracting the great participation of many blood donors. The campaigns have collected more than 2, 220 units of blood.
In 2012, the Provincial Steering Board for Voluntary Blood Donation targets to collect 25,000 blood units in order to provide enough blood for the treatment of patients in the province.
At the ceremony, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Tri launched propaganda campaigns to raise local people’s awareness of the role of blood donation to help patients and encouraged them to be involved in the movements.
On this occasion, the provincial People’s Committee awarded certificates of merit to 52 collectives and 75 individuals who actively participated in humanitarian blood donation campaigns. Especially, collective of Lac Hong University, its Youth Union and 5 its members were honored for their contribution to humanitarian aid.
