If people had just known Bien Hoa as a potentially industrial city in 1990s, now referring to it, they would also be proud to talk about a young university but it has confirmed its brand name in education and training.
Lac Hong University (Dong Nai) was established under Decision No. 790/TTg signed by the Prime Minister on September 24th, 1997. From its inception, the school leaders have been struggling with the questions how to build a university of high quality, meeting the high demands for manpower of the labor markets,how to build a reputable brand name of training and the quality of a young school. If the school is open to only award university degrees to students, its survival will be threatened as the fates of so many private schools now. The challenge is to build a school so that graduates can immediately work, meeting social needs.

Living with businesses
One of the reasons that the Lac Hong University has been in the position today is because it has had a development strategy closely with businesses. Lac Hong University has clearly defined it is a business - a unit that goes abreast with the school during the development process. Without businesses, students have no places to take internships and to work. It is also a subject for the school to build successfully its model "The school and enterprises carry out research together and apply technology”. The business is also a place to accept graduates and give exact feedback for the school's training so that they can meet social needs. Definitely, without businesses, there are no research topics, no scholarships for students to study abroad and no postgraduates. Therefore, for more than the past ten years, the school has regularly organized seminars and exchanges between enterprises and students, giving them opportunities to understand the reality and after graduation helping them easily find jobs related to their majors. The programs to take students to businesses, factories and schools to export processing zones, industrial parks of Lac Hong University are really effective.
An echo in training technical students
During eight out of 13 years, Lac Hong University has been very successful and left echoes in training students of technical sectors. The strong construction and development of students’ research activities successful in recent years have brought good results, encouraging students to stick to the labs, companies, factories to look for ideas and identify performance. As a result, many tech products have been born, well applied to real management and production and highly appreciated. The school has handed over the software of outpatient medical care for Dong Nai Polyclinic Hospital, transferred sales management program to duty-free Moc Bai and Tinh Bien supermarkets, student record management software, mark management to the University of Sports, Medical College of Dong Nai. Besides, the model "The school and enterprises carry out research together and apply technology" has brought many topics of quality. The school has studied and transferred successfully testing and automatic part ranking systems to Nectokin company - Japan, installed and transferred automatic power control cabinet to Plus Industrial Co., Ltd. Vietnam ( Bien Hoa Industrial Zone 2); automatic steel bending machine transferred to the private business Hoc Thuan Hoa, concrete mold lubricating machine to Chau Thoi Concrete Corporation and so on. These devices work well and receive high appreciation of users.
Scientific research activities have been well organized, inspiring students’ creative minds. Lac Hong students whereby have been very successful in creative technology contests such as awards for Ministry level Scientific Research, awards for technology, skill awards of Dong Nai especially successful award of Lac Hong students in Robocon 2010 (Championship of Robocon Vietnam 2010, Second Prize of Asia Pacific Robocon). Many technology students after graduation can work immediately and get rapid promotion in their jobs.
The success of a right direction
With the development strategies arousing students’ creative potential, connecting the school with businesses, for the past time, Lac Hong University has established its reputation in businesses such as Japan, Korea, China, Taiwan and so on with their investments in Dong Nai and neighboring provinces. These businesses have increasingly understood and appreciated the competence of Lac Hong students and therefore given them jobs. Many students after working, besides professional contributions to the businesses, they help enterprises orient in manufacturing and be selected for foreign training. Currently, many students of Lac Hong University are holding the positions of Deputy General Director, Director, Chief Accountant, Sales Manager and so on of big businesses in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh City.
Thanks to the achievements in scientific research and in training, many other universities have come to visit and get to know Lac Hong University. They are willing to join with Lac Hong to have parts in the training of qualified students.
According to Webometrics - a ranking web of world universities (http://www.webometrics.info/) of the cybernetics Laboratory owned by the Spanish National Research Council, Lac Hong University ranks 13th of 72 rated universities in Vietnam.
