Southern regional qualifying round of Robocon Vietnam 2012 contest kicked off

Attending the opening ceremony was leaders of Vietnam Television, of the Ministry of Education and Training, of Toyota Vietnam and of universities and colleges in the southern region. This year, there were 15 teams from Dong Nai - based Lac Hong University participating in the regional qualifying round. The teams will be divided into 13 groups to compete in a round-robin format. As a result, the Organising Board will select  the top 12 teams advancing to the national final competition which will be held in the Military Zone 7 Sports House in Ho Chi Minh City from May 8. From there, the national champion will represent Vietnam in the ABU Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2012 to be held in Hong Kong in August.

The theme of Robocon 2012 is “Peng on Dai Gat” that means in pursuit of peace and prosperity, based on the idea of Dumpling Festival in Cheung Chau, which was famous for over 100 years. The design concept for the stadium of Robocon 2012 is based on the Dumpling tower and the robots will be the experts to pick the dumplings.
