The heart of the leader
If people had just known the city of Bien Hoa as a potentially industrial one in 1990s, now referring to it, they would also be proud to talk about a young university but it has confirmed its brand name in education and training. This achievement is attributed to the outstanding contributions of Dr. Tran Hanh – President of Lac Hong University.
As a very active member of the Founding Board, from the first days, he has been struggling with concerns how to build a high quality of university meeting the high demands for manpower of the labor markets, how to build a reputable brand name of training and the quality of a young school. If the school is open to only award university degrees to students, its survival will be threatened as the fates of so many private schools now. The challenge is to build a school so that graduates can get jobs immediately, meeting social needs. Seen as a visionary and enterprising scientist, Dr. Tran Hanh has proposed learner-centered training program innovation step by step, produced the idea “The school and enterprises carry out research together and apply technology”, and widely launched the research movement involving both teachers and students. Fully aware of the slogan “Bon That” :"Truly training, Truly learning, Truly exam taking, Truly doing" and the mission“Training human resources, Breeding ground for young talents, Graduates get jobs immediately without retraining programs”, Lac Hong is confident to be one of the manpower training addresses of high quality. Specific demonstrations of these gains are output quality of students, satisfaction of businesses, the investments of enterprises, annual achievements, and so on. For the eight past years, the school has cooperated with over 500 enterprises in Dong Nai, Binh Duong, Ho Chi Minh city,… held many seminars with foreign businesses to offer students opportunities to directly discuss with employers. Dr. Tran Hanh is also the person who successfully performs the idea of technology transfer of a private school to other training ones, other companies and receives high appreciation from these users.
He is not only a talented and devoted leader to more than 300 teaching staff and employees, but also a great teacher and a “boss” who care for his staff’s lives. The image of a man who simply attires with shirt, trousers and sandals and works more than 10 hours per day has embedded in staff’s memory. In addition, he inspires his employees to greater passion and creativity and his students to confidence and hope. He actively participates in the charitable activities as well. Particularly, he donated over VND 4 bil to poor students in Quang Tri, Ninh Thuan, Binh Thuan,… sponsors many students with difficult circumstances so that they can develop their talent.
Under the leadership of Dr. Tran Hanh, Lac Hong University has been awarded many certificates of merit, the emulative flags of the Prime Minister, The Ministry of Education and Training, the National Education Union of Vietnam, and of Dong Nai provincial People’s Committee. He himself received the Third-class Labour Medal, certificate of merit of the Prime Minister, The Ministry of Education and Training, certificate of merit of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, Central Study Promotion Society, the National Education Union of Vietnam, and of Dong Nai and Quang Tri provincial People’s Committees.
Thanks to Dr. Tran Hanh, Lac Hong University has gained a lot of great accomplishments, especially in research. This makes Lac Hong a dominant one compared with other private schools. Its members cannot help taking pride in it. With intellectual education philosophy and wholehearted determination of leaders, the reputation of Lac Hong will certainly spread out across the country, bringing fame in education and training.
